The District has become aware that there was a recent posting on social media stating that there will be a shooting at Valley View High School. In speaking to the Hidalgo Police Chief Rodolfo Espinoza, it was determined that this post originated in California and has been found to be a hoax and not true. Just like the first incident reported on Thursday, February 22nd, the Hidalgo police dept. assured the District that there is no threat of danger to our students. Campus administration and the Hidalgo Police officers determined at that time that there was no list and that there was no threat made by the student in question. Be assured that anyone found to be spreading threats or rumors of threats, even if a hoax, threatening the safety of our students, will be met with full disciplinary measures by the District, where applicable, and criminal charges from State and Federal law enforcement authorities. If you see or hear about anything that is out of the ordinary and could affect the safety of our students, please report it immediately to Pharr PD (402-4700), Hidalgo PD (843-2737), or Valley View ISD Administration (340-1000). We will take every single report as an absolute priority. Our School Board Members and District Administration will continue working together with law enforcement authorities to ensure the safety of our students. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to call Superintendent Rolando Ramirez, Assistant Superintendent Monica Luna, or Principal Jesus Garza at 340-1000.
