2020-21 VVISD ISD Private Non-Profit Schools

Dear Private, Nonprofit School:

 

The Valley View Independent School District (VVISD) is submitting a consolidated application for federal programs funding for the 2020-2021 school year to the Texas Education Agency. The purpose of this notice is to identify the programs for which we are applying, to inform you of the eligibility criteria for private, nonprofit schools (PNPs), and to invite your participation.

If you are interested in having your school considered for participation, please complete the enclosed Intent to Participate. A Consultation and Planning Meeting will be scheduled in June or July with each private, nonprofit school that intends to participate in any of the federal programs. If clarification is needed or if you have any questions, you may call Camilo Martinez, Director of Special Funds at 956-340-1050 or Dr. Matthew E. Meyers, Director of Migrant Ed. at 956-340-1060.

 

The participation deadline will close. Friday, June 11, 2020 for the 2020-2021 school year to ensure proper planning requirements are met. If your school is not interested in participating in these programs, return your Intent to Participate stating that choice. PNP Criteria:
 

Title I, Part A-Provides resources to assist students who are experiencing academic difficulty in reading and math. Schools are required to identify participating students and provide related academic data.

What are the Criteria for Participation?

  1. Schools must be private and nonprofit
  2. Schools must be located in the Valley View ISD or surrounding areas.
  3. Schools must have students enrolled that live or reside in the VVISD attendance boundaries. Students must be failing or at risk of failing to meet the state’s academic standard.
  4. Students must be zoned to a Title I school in VVISD.

Title I, Part C-Provides resources to assist migratory students overcome the challenges of mobility, cultural and language barriers, social isolation, and other difficulties associated with a migratory lifestyle.

What are the Criteria for Participation?
  1. Schools must be private and nonprofit.
  2. Schools must be located in the Valley View ISD or surrounding areas.
  3. Schools must have students enrolled that live or reside in the VVISD attendance boundaries. Students must be failing or at risk of failing to meet the state’s academic standard.
  4. Students must be zoned to a Title I school in VVISD.
  5. Parents of students must meet the eligibility criteria for migrant workers.
