We are thrilled to announce that our Congress and Robotics Teams have advanced to the State competition! Our talented students will be making their way to Austin and San Antonio, TX, and we couldn't be prouder. Best of luck to all of you at State—go get 'em, Tigers!
To celebrate and cheer them on, students were treated to delicious Sonic sundaes last week. A big thank you to Sonic for making our students’ celebration extra sweet!

What a magical night we had at the City of Hidalgo Festival of Lights Parade! Our students and staff truly embraced the Christmas spirit, and it was such an incredible time. A huge shoutout to our wonderful Board of Trustees for their amazing support, and a big thank you to Mayor Sergio Coronado and the Commissioners for the invitation!
We also want to give a round of applause to Valley View South Elementary for snagging 1st Place 🏆with their stunning float! A heartfelt thank you to all the teachers, staff, parents, and volunteers who made the floats so special—each one was fantastic. It was teamwork at its best. Way to go, Tigers! 🐯✨🐾
A big shoutout to our amazing Tiger students for shining at the 2025 Region One Holiday Art Contest! 🎉 Sophia Hernandez Flores, our talented high school student, took home the top honor, and Renata Castillo, a fabulous fifth grader from Valley View Elementary, was a finalist in the elementary category! Our High School Robotics Team hosted "Robotics Day" at Valley View South Elementary. They brought along our complete competition robot, a portion of the competition field, Sphero, and Makey Makey for the students to enjoy. The Robotics Team was proud to inspire and encourage elementary students to consider STEM-related fields and to show them how technology and programming are used in their everyday lives. A big thank you to Mr. Randy Perez, our Robotics Sponsor, and the entire team. Great job, Tigers! ✨🐾🐯🤖

Efrén Olivares, Valley View High School Class of 2001, has been named to TIME Magazine's 2025 TIME100 Next list as one of the world's most influential rising leaders.
After arriving in the United States at age 13 and starting seventh grade at Valley View without speaking English, Efrén became the first in his family to attend college. Today, he serves as Vice President of Litigation & Legal Strategy at the National Immigration Law Center, where he champions human dignity and defends families at the U.S.-Mexico border.
Kerry Kennedy wrote of him: "He isn't just a brilliant lawyer. He's an example of the principles we're fighting to protect." MyRGV
His 2022 memoir, "My Boy Will Die of Sorrow," earned the 2023 International Latino Book Award, sharing his firsthand accounts of representing hundreds of immigrant families.
Congratulations, Efrén! From Tiger to trailblazer, your journey from our hallways to TIME Magazine's pages inspires us all.
