We are thrilled to announce a collaboration between Valley View High School and South Texas College to launch a Fire Science Academy Program through the Dual Enrollment Program!
After a year of planning and partnership development, this week marked a significant milestone as VVISD Administration, South Texas College representatives, Hidalgo Fire Chief, and Assistant Fire Chief came together to finalize the Fire Science Academy timeline, promotion strategy, and upcoming student/parent information sessions.
What This Means for Our Students:
Through this innovative initiative, VVHS students will have the opportunity to earn BOTH high school AND college credit while pursuing their passion for public safety and emergency services. The Fire Science Program focuses on fire prevention, protection, firefighting, and the diverse career opportunities within this essential field.
Career Pathways Include: Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT), Firefighters, Fire Inspectors, Fire Investigators
And more!
We are incredibly excited to open these doors for our students and provide them with real-world skills and credentials that will serve them throughout their careers. This is just one of many ways VVISD is committed to creating meaningful pathways from classroom to career.

🤖🐯 Robotics Day at Valley View South Elementary 🤖🐯
Our High School Robotics Team hosted "Robotics Day" at Valley View South Elementary. They brought along our complete competition robot, a portion of the competition field, Sphero, and Makey Makey for the students to enjoy. The Robotics Team was proud to inspire and encourage elementary students to consider STEM-related fields and to show them how technology and programming are used in their everyday lives. A big thank you to Mr. Randy Perez, our Robotics Sponsor, and the entire team. Great job, Tigers! ✨🐾🐯🤖

Efrén Olivares, Valley View High School Class of 2001, has been named to TIME Magazine's 2025 TIME100 Next list as one of the world's most influential rising leaders.
After arriving in the United States at age 13 and starting seventh grade at Valley View without speaking English, Efrén became the first in his family to attend college. Today, he serves as Vice President of Litigation & Legal Strategy at the National Immigration Law Center, where he champions human dignity and defends families at the U.S.-Mexico border.
Kerry Kennedy wrote of him: "He isn't just a brilliant lawyer. He's an example of the principles we're fighting to protect." MyRGV
His 2022 memoir, "My Boy Will Die of Sorrow," earned the 2023 International Latino Book Award, sharing his firsthand accounts of representing hundreds of immigrant families.

This week, we were fortunate to receive generous turkey dinner donations from BlueWave Express Car Wash, aimed at bringing a little extra joy to our students at each campus. We are incredibly thankful for their ongoing support this school year, which makes a real difference in our community. We also want to extend our heartfelt appreciation to our school board members for their unwavering commitment and for graciously joining us to deliver these meals, ensuring that our students feel cared for and valued.
