Good afternoon, We were notified by our police department that a student from another district was arrested today and is the individual responsible for the recent social media threats. The individual will be charged with a felony for making a terroristic threat. We want to remind everyone that we take all threats seriously and will continue with our VVISD safety protocols to ensure the safety of our students. We also want to remind parents to monitor their children's social media activities to prevent the sharing of sensitive information. If you see something suspicious, please report it immediately. As part of our ongoing safety measures: 1. We will not allow any backpacks on Thursday and Friday. 2. Students should bring their Chromebooks. 3. Students traveling for games or events will have their travel bags checked and held in a secure area. They will get their bags before the game or event. Visitors must check in at the main office and register through our Raptor Visitor Management System. - **Emergency Response Plans**: Each campus has a detailed Emergency Response Plan, reviewed annually, that includes evacuation, lockdown procedures, and reunification plans in case of emergencies. - **Safety Teams and Resources**: Full-time School Resource Officers (SROs) are on every campus, and our District Safety and Security Committee works closely with local law enforcement to keep our schools secure. - **Communication**: In emergencies, we will keep you informed through our website, social media, and messaging system. We are actively monitoring statewide social media threats. We have police officers and security personnel at each campus, and we continue to work closely with law enforcement. We take all threats seriously and will pursue criminal charges against any threats made toward our schools. Please note that false reports are also considered terroristic threats and are punishable by law. We urge all parents to partner with us by discussing with your children the serious nature and lasting consequences of making threats against our schools and community, and by closely monitoring your children's use of social media, phones, and other communication devices. Students and parents, remember: if you see something suspicious, say something to an adult at our schools immediately. Safety is a community effort.
